Shortcut Problem & Hidden Files In Memory Card/ Pendrive (FIXED) | techsmsbd

Now-a-days it has become a common phenomenon. People uses Pendrive and don't care of it is infected with virus or any other malicious scripts or not.

Sometimes when a person connects a pendrive or memory card into the computer he/she finds that there is nothing in his pendrive/memory but shortcut files. But the pendrive isn't fully empty.

That means something is remaining in the removable device, but those are hidden.

Here are 3 methods which will help you:
A. CMD Method:
It's the easiest case in this case.
Just follow these steps:
1. From you windows PC, Press windows key + R.

2. Type: cmd and hit enter.

3. Then simply type this code: attrib -h -r -s /s /d X:\*,* [Here 'x' is the drive letter of pendrive/memory card] & hit 'enter'

4. Now open your pendrive/mc(memory card). You'll see an folder with any name.

5. Open the folder.

6.Now here are your files.

*[Note: To get rid of this problem permanently you to scan your full computer and your pendrive/mc(memory card) with latest updated anti-virus program. Then copy the files you need from the pendrive/mc(memory card) to your PC & format the pendrive/MC(memory card). Now you can store your files in your pendrive/MC safely]

B. 'Folder Option' method: 
Firstly you need to open a built in windows tool, folder option.

1. From your windows PC, [From Windows XP]
click start button --> Click Control Panel -->
Click Folder Option.
Or,
[From Windows 7, 8 & 8.1] Open 'Computer' from desktop --> Click 'Organize' at the upper left position of the screen --> Click 'Folder & Search Option'.
Or,
[From Windows 10].........

2. On the window of the 'Folder Option', Click on 'View' tab.

3. Click on the radio button 'Show hidden files & folders'.

4. Deselect the tick box 'Hide System files....-->to do so.

5. Click Apply --> Click Ok.

6. Open your pendrive/MC(memory card). You'll see a folder without name which look transparent. Open the folder & here are your files.


C. Addition Software method:
You can use some utility to get rid of this problem . Usbfix is one of them. It has a user friendly interface which will help you much.

Why do we need increase C drive space?

As applications continue to be installed into the Windows system, one day you may find the system partition (C: drive) does not have enough free disk space, and every time when the system starts, Windows always displays the low disk space warning as: "You are running out of disk space on Local Disk (C:). To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here..."

 

 In this case, we have to delete the old or unnecessary files to get more free space in order to ensure the normal operations of Windows system. However, deleting files is not the best way, because actually it does not work and you will find c drive full again soon.

How to increase disk space with Windows built-in Disk Management utility

 

1. Right click My Computer and choose Manage -> Storage -> Disk Management.

 

2. Select the adjacent disk of the disk you want to extend, right click and choose Shrink Volume to create some free disk space.

3. Select the disk you want to extend, right click and choose Extend Volume to increase disk space.

How to increase disk space with EaseUS partition software

  

However, Windows built-in Disk Management utility has some limitations in increasing disk space. First, only Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7 and windows 10 Disk Management have the ability to shrink and extend system volume. And second, there must be contiguous unallocated space behind the partition that you want to extend. Otherwise, you have to delete the partition behind it or increase disk space with third-party partition manager software.

 

1. Download and launch EaseUS Partition Master.

2. Use "Resize/Move partition" to shrink partition E: to make unallocated space for partition C:.

 

 

3. Increase C: drive with "Resize/Move partition" function.

 4. Click Apply.
